NOW READY, CHSP 2025–27 Updates: New Manual and Resources

The Department of Health, Disability and Ageing have released the latest CHSP 2025–27 Manual and Appendices, outlining important updates and changes that came into effect 1 July 2025. These updates are part of the ongoing improvements across the aged care sector, paving the way for the new Aged Care Act, starting 1 November 2025. 

 Highlights outlined during the  12 June CHSP webinar, include 

  • Service List: Refreshed names, detailed descriptions, now with clearly defined inclusions and exclusions (Chapter 3 & Appendix A). 
  • Mapping of SSS and SSD Services: These are re-mapped or scheduled for one year grant agreements. 
  • My Aged Care (MAC) ID Tracking: Record client’s My Aged Care (MAC) IDs in provider’s own client systems ahead of Data Exchange (DEX) integration in January 2026 (Chapter 12). 
  • Client Assessments: All clients must have an aged care assessment and deemed eligible before accessing subsidised CHSP services (Chapter 5). 
  • Service Agreements: When the new Act commences, providers will be required to have a Service agreement in place with their clients. Further guidance material is expected in the lead up to 1 November. 
  • Rural Loading for Modified Monash Model 5 (MMM5 Areas): Up to 20% loading applies for services delivered in small rural towns (Chapter 7). 
  • Home Adjustments: Commonwealth annual funding cap has increased from $10,000 to $15,000 per client (Chapter 7). 
  • Client Contributions Continue: for Allied health clinical services (Chapter 7). 
  • Provider Exit: Notice period remains at 5 months with exit dates now confirmed as 31 December or 30 June (Chapter 9) and the new Selections Framework (Appendix G). 
  • Service Flexibility: Continued with departmental written approval required for additional services (Chapter 8). 
  • New Child Safety Annual Compliance: Statement of compliance required (Chapter 12). 
  • Financial declaration and Compliance Statement: providers must confirm funds were spent on supporting assessed clients (Chapter 12). 

 

The updated Manual includes seven appendices, and a summary of the key changes are below. 

  • Appendix A: New inclusions/exclusions for the Service List 
  • Appendix F & G: Revised Compliance and new Selections Framework 
  • Minor updates and editorial changes including wellness and reablement, contacts, police checks and pricing guides across Appendices, B, C, D, E.
