How to have a culturally safe yarn: Cultural Sensitivity and Responsiveness Workshop (Parramatta)

Have you ever wondered how you can make a difference in the Aboriginal space?
Western Sydney Community Forum invites you to a full-day workshop to strengthen your knowledge and skills to deliver culturally safe and responsive services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
By the end of the workshop you will be able to:
- Have a culturally safe yarn with First Nations peoples in your workplace and local community.
- Ask questions in a culturally safe way.
- Deliver “good news” and “bad news” in a culturally safe way.The session will also cover:
- Context for what Aboriginal peoples want from culturally safe and responsive domestic violence and other support systems.
- Concepts such as communications and the mother-in-law rule and how it applies to your work practices.
- Content including connections and kinship and cultural safety versus cultural competency.
Facilitated by Anny Druett, Indigenous cross cultural trainer and coach with over four decades of experience in community development with First Nations peoples and refugees.
